Blood Donation Mobile Unit

Blood Donation Mobile Unit

The Blood Donation Mobile Unit visits various localities and places of work during the year. This facilitates and encourages recruitment of new blood donors, especially those who have limited free time. This mobile unit collects more then 3000 units of blood per year and has become an important source of blood collection. When the Blood Donation Mobile Unit visits a place we call this event a BLOOD DRIVE.

There are some criteria to be met before a blood drive can be organised. These are:

As the Mobile Unit is 60 feet long there should be adequate space for parking. Sloping areas are not appropriate.

A source of an electrical supply must be available. An industrial socket 32 amps single phase is installed prior to the event. This can be done by our electricians.

A list of donors is prepared by the organiser. The organiser submits a list of at least 20 names of people who are ready to donate blood.

Here are some good organisers that managed to organise a very good blood drive as well as some other ideas that can be used.

The Blood Donation Mobile Unit is available from 8.30 a.m. till 1.00 p.m.

Those organisers who do not succeed to meet one of the above criteria, can still help. Employers, or any organiser, can send groups to the blood bank near St. Luke's Hospital. If transport is not available, we can make arrangements to provide you transport ourselves.
