Eligibility

Please note that this information is subject to change. Final eligibility determination rests with the screening staff at the National Blood Transfusion Service.

 
     
 

IDENTIFICATION

Identification with ID card, Driving License or Maltese Passport.

AGE

Between 18 and 63 years; 17 year olds must have a parent's/guardian consent. Regular donors who have not exceeded 6 months between donations, may donate until their 65th birthday.

WEIGHT

At least 50kg (110 lb).

FREQUENCY OF DONATION

Females can donate every four months; Males can donate every three months.

HEALTH

Must be in general good health and recently not suffering from any illness. One must also have a good haemoglobin level, normal blood pressure, temperature and a urine analysis tests are also made.

SCREENING

A questionnaire is filled in by the doctor to determine eligibility.
