A total of 868 new patients were seen by the department, of these 596 received radiotherapy at the time of presentation, 200 received chemotherapy as out patients and 170 received hormone therapy.

Many of these patients would have received radiotherapy, chemotherapy or hormone treatment at a later stage of their disease.

Out Patient Clinics:

Outpatient clinics are held at Boffa Hospital in Radiotherapy Outpatients, at Gozo General Hospital, 3 times a month as well as at Boffa Hospital daily in a less formalized manner. Joint clinics are also held at St Luke's with the departments of ENT, Urology and Gynaecology. Joint consultations with the Dermatology department at Boffa are commonplace and on demand. The figures given below are for Boffa Hospital - Radiotherapy Out Patients and Gozo General Hospital - Radiotherapy Out Patients only. The "Multidisciplinary" breast clinic started this year has unfortunately been a non-starter for the Oncology Department as it's been rarely possible to attend due to lack of medical staff that keeps us overstretched.

A weekly palliative care clinic is held at Boffa Hospital. Dr Moira Camilleri from the Hospice Movement is in attendance and works closely with the Oncology Department staff.
