Government Hospital Services in Malta
The objective of the Government hospital services is to provide diagnostic, treatment and other medical care facilities from hospitals on an in-patient and out-patient basis. The total bed capacity of the Government hospitals is around 2,000, apart from St. Vincent de Paule Residence for the Elderly that has over 1,000 beds. The hospital services are centred around St. Luke's Hospital which provides a full range of services, including acute psychiatric in-patient and out-patient treatment. A comprehensive programme of refurbishment and modernisation, including the establishment of new services, is in progress in all Government hospitals.

This is a general hospital catering for the island of
Gozo, with 159 beds. Ta' L-Ibrag is a newer part of the
