Special Conditions governing guar gum originating in or consigned from India due to contamination risks of those products by pentachlorophenol and dioxins

 (Commission Decision 2008/352/EC (MT)of the 29 April 2008)

 

This Decision applies to the following products originating from India:

  1. guar gum, falling within CN code 1302 32 90, originating in or consigned from India, and intended for animal or human consumption;

  2. compound feedingstuffs and foodstuffs containing at least 10 % guar gum originating in or consigned from India.

Importation of guar gum and products thereof originating from India is only allowed if a consignment of these products is accompanied by the following documents:

  1. An original analytical report issued by a laboratory accredited according to EN ISO/IEC 17025 for the analysis of pentachlorophenol (PCP) in food, or

  2. An original analytical report issued by a laboratory that is pursuing the necessary accreditation procedures and which has adequate quality control schemes in place. (Presently the Vimta Labs Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh is the only laboratory in India which fulfils quality control standards)

  • The analytical result must be reported with the expanded measurement uncertainty.

  • The analytical report shall be endorsed by a representative of the competent authority of the country where the laboratory is located.

  • Such report shall demonstrate that the product dose not contain more than 0.01mg/kg pentachlorophenol (PCP).
